Emergency Aid Societies (EAS's) It never fails. As soon as you move away from home, or your spouse deploys, or you take a vacation and use the last of your savings and your leave, something happens. Each department of the military has an aid society in the event of an emergency, such as, a death in the immediate family (under some circumstances, aunts, uncles, and/or grandparents count), emergency travel for severe illness/death, disaster relief, and more. Write these numbers down and keep them at close reach in case of an emergency.

If you are traveling overseas, whether by Military Airlift Command (MAC) or via a commercial flight, it is advisable to register with the State Department at https://travelregistration.state.gov/obrs/home.asp.  If an emergency happens, or if natural disaster, terrorism, or civil unrest strikes during your foreign travel, the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate can be your source of assistance and information. By registering your trip, you help the embassy or consulate locate you when you might need them the most. Registration is voluntary and costs nothing, but it should be a big part of your travel planning and security. https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/home.asp
